Welcome to KDLP, a distinguished Korean-English Dual Language Program located in Bundang, South Korea. We pride ourselves on academic excellence, character building community, and safe environment. We emphasize on the importance of long-lasting investments in intellectual development, which involves stimulation of creativity, thought-provoking questions, and hands-on activities. It is our commitment to believe in each child's capacity to be a leading member in our society.
한국어를 모국어로 하는 어린이들에게 영어를 가르치는 과정은 영어권 나라에서 영어를 이미 모국어로 습득한 아이들을 대상으로 가르치는 교육 프로그램과는 달라야 합니다.
분당 KDLP 창의샘은 1965년부터 시작된 캐나다의French-English Immersion Program(몰입교육)에 뿌리를 두고 있습니다.이중언어교육(Dual language의 가장 성공적인 모델로
소개되고 있는 캐나다의 몰입이중언어교육은 1970년대 이후에 미국에 소개되었습니다. 세계 여러 나라로부터 유입된 이민자 가정의 모국어를 존중하면서 이민사회의 언어인 영어를 잘 배울 수 있는 프로그램으로 모범 이중언어 프로그램으로 선정되는가 하면 전미 교육부에서 우수한 이중언어 프로그램으로 수상한 바 있습니다.
평생을 이화여자대학교 유아교육교수로 재직한 이경우 교수는, 서울대학교 언어학과 교수인 Merrill Greg 교수와 함께
미국 교육국에서 KDLP 프로그램에 참여하였던 교사들과 함께 한국아이들에게 꼭 필요한 모범적인 이중언어교육 모델을 소개하기 시작하였습니다.분당 KDLP창의샘은 2008년 3월 분당
이매동에 설립되어, 우리나라의 가장 모범적인 이중언어교육
프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다.
